Our food
We have a local and national reputation for our delicious food: simple cooking with the very best local ingredients. Chef Sam creates menus twice a day according to the tides and the season.
Everything cooked at The Coastguard is carefully prepared from scratch by Sam’s dedicated team. Most dishes have a story behind them: they might be based on an old Roman recipe, or they might be the re-energising of a classic dish, or perhaps an original creation by Sam in response to some particularly outstanding local produce. We take great pride in the food we serve.
We take advance reservations for our intimate restaurant which tends to fill up quickly all year round. You can email us or call 01304 853176 to make a booking. However, there’s no need to book if you want to be at one with the elements and sit out on the terrace or in the garden.
* The bar is open every day from 11am until 11pm serving bar bites including homemade cakes, olives and crisps
* Lunch is served from 12.30pm until 2.45pm
* Supper is served from 6.30pm until 8.45pm
Christmas Day is the kitchen’s only day off, but the bar will be open from 12pm until 3pm and we’d be delighted to welcome you for a yuletide drink.
